Recording Data (Only When You Record)

We only collect data when you actively start a recording:

Video and Audio:

  • Screen/tab video capture (WebM format)
  • Audio from your system/microphone (if enabled)
  • Maximum 2 minutes per recording

Interactions:

  • Click events (mouse position, clicked elements)
  • Scroll events (scroll position)
  • Keyboard events (key codes only - NOT the actual text you type)
  • Page navigation (URLs visited during recording)

Metadata:

  • Tab URL and title
  • Viewport dimensions
  • Recording timestamps

Technical Information

  • Extension version
  • Browser type and version
  • Error logs (anonymized)

What We Do NOT Collect

We never collect:

  • Passwords or form data
  • Text you type (only key codes)
  • Mouse movements
  • Browsing history outside recordings
  • Background activity when not recording
  • Clipboard content

Important: The extension only activates when you click "Start Recording". No background tracking occurs.


Children's Privacy

GuideClarity is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us at support@guideclarity.com and we will delete it immediately.

Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States where our servers are located.

We aim to comply with applicable data protection laws including GDPR

Cookies and Tracking

The GuideClarity extension does NOT use cookies.

We use JWT tokens stored in Chrome's encrypted storage for authentication. These tokens:

  • Are not accessible to websites you visit
  • Are not shared across domains
  • Expire automatically after 24-48 hours
  • Are deleted when you log out

If a data breach affects your information:
